Ferret came to pass (or the gospel according to Eddie), by Siderius Nucius
>The gospel according to Eddie.
1. Ferret came to pass that an mighty flood covered all the land of Snell,
even unto Gar-den and Patioch; yea even unto their dwelling-place.
2. And Eddie and Joseph, his father, said unto their neighbour "Be
comforted, for thy kine shall be abide abide in Lean-To and shall be
sheltered and guarded."
3. And then did they labour sore, for the waters did not part, and they were
a strength and a comfort unto the people of Snell. And Lyn-da saw that they
were good. But others spake among themselves and said the people of Grun-dy
were lewd fellows of the baser sort, and they did not heed the good deeds of
Grun-dy.
4. And the tribe of Ar-cher did take the people of Snell unto their bosom in
Rick-yard. And some remembered that there was no room at the inn in the
time of trial of the people of Grun-dy, for they were lowly and must be
taught to stand upon their own feet.
5. And when the waters had receded, Eddie and Joseph his father spake words
of comfort unto Lyn-da and did begin to build again the place of Patioch
which they had made.
6. But by the waters of Borsetshire Lyn-da sat down and wept when she
remembered thee, O Gar-den.
